Suspect connected to 'dozens' of robberies in 3 Washington counties arrested in Oregon

Law enforcement recovered stolen property that is expected to link the suspect to "dozens" of burglaries in Pierce, Mason and Kitsap Counties.

GIG HARBOR, Wash. — A burglary suspect that was wanted on a $1 million warrant out of Kitsap County was arrested in Eugene, Ore., on Wednesday, according to the Gig Harbor Police Department.

The suspect, 36-year-old Gary Michael Moyer, is accused of burglaries in multiple counties. Law enforcement agencies in Pierce, Mason and Kitsap counties have been working to arrest him for months.

Moyer has been on the run since Kitsap County issued the warrant for his arrest earlier in February for second-degree burglary, first-degree theft and motor vehicle theft.

The Gig Harbor Police Department worked with the Mason County Sheriff's Office, the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office, the FBI, Customs and Border Patrol, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Agency and several area police departments to develop probable cause to serve a search warrant on a home connected to Moyer in Port Orchard Wednesday morning.

Detectives recovered a "large amount of stolen property" that is expected to link the suspect to "dozens" of burglaries within the three counties. Moyer is also responsible for nine commercial burglaries in Gig Harbor alone.

Gig Harbor detectives were able to track Moyer's movements to Oregon. On Wednesday morning, he was located in Eugene. Moyer initially fled police, then abandoned his car and ran into a nearby house before he was taken into custody by the Eugene Police SWAT Team.

Moyer will face potential charges in Oregon and then be extradited to Pierce County to face collective charges for all of the crimes he is associated with.

Moyer was previously charged with the attempted theft of an ATM at a Chase Bank branch in Kitsap County back in December and also with the theft of an Amazon delivery van in Port Orchard from November.
