Kid pundits give us their expert political insight

Seattle-area youngsters have shared their unvarnished thoughts over more than two decades, from Bill Clinton to Donald Trump.

SEATTLE — For more than 20 years, kids have been sharing their thoughts on a wide range of topics with KING 5 Evening's Jim Dever. We thought it would be fun to look back at some of the political conversations that have taken place since 1996. Here are some highlights:

(1996)
Jim:  What does the First Lady do for a living?
Girl:  Take naps.
Jim:  No, that's the Vice President's job.

(2004)
Boy: Lincoln took off his hat and got the mail to the houses.
Jim:  Really? Abraham Lincoln had mail in his hat?  I thought he had a pet rat named Andy.
Boy:  Well, then it wouldn't get any air.
Jim:  Yeah, he didn't have it very long.

(2004)
Jim:  Do you know who the president is?
Girl:  Well, I have saw him on TV.
Jim:  What's he in charge of?
Girl:   Well, I think he's in charge of three daughters, I think.
Jim:  Oh, he has very little control over them.

(1996)

Jim:  Do you know the president's name?
Girl:  George Washington.
