Sleep in a sphere with spectacular views an hour north of Seattle

Sky Valley GeoDome is a cozy getaway with views of Snohomish Valley. #k5evening

SULTAN, Wash. — A unique spherical getaway in the Snohomish Valley offers amazing views outside, and inside.

Sky Valley GeoDome is on the border of Gold Bar and Sultan, about an hour from Seattle.

The location at the base of the Cascades boasts sweeping views of quintessential Northwest terrain.

"Mount Baring is just framed in the middle of Sky Valley, it's absolutely gorgeous. At the right time of the day, the sun actually glistens off Wallace Falls,” said owner Jonathan Savage. "You get all the highlights. It's a pretty special spot."

He and co-owner Kolby Reimer live next to the GeoDome and built the rental with a relaxing experience in mind.

"People love to stay somewhere that's not like their normal home, right?” Reimer said. “So it's a really fun, unique spot."

Savage added, "This has kind of all the amenities of a house. We just compacted it down to a very small footprint."

Guests sleep in a bed atop a loft, and the lower level has a kitchen, fireplace and couches. The shape and layout make it feel downright spacious, especially when the curtains are open.

On nice days, guests can lounge in an outdoor the hammock, sit beside a fire on the patio, or soak in an adjacent cedar hot tub.

When the sun goes down, the experience changes.

"At night, you sit in there and it's just a very special space,” Savage said. "There's a nice little wood stove that still gives you a kind of cabin-y vibe."

The dome is illuminated by LED lights and looks otherworldly from the outside. Inside, a projector allows guests to transform the space into an entertainment cocoon.

"Our curtains close and it becomes a huge movie theater, essentially,” Reimer said.

But she said the element most guests love most is a second, mini dome next to the large one – a well-appointed bathroom with a large bathtub.

“You're soaking in the tub with the rain, because it's Washington so it's always raining, and It's perfect,” Reimer said.

They hope guests leave their corner of Washington State feeling rested and restored.

"It calms your nervous system,” Reimer said.

Savage added, "Something about the shape - it has an energy to it. It just makes you relax, makes you have a fun time. No matter what you're doing in there, it's kind of elevated a little bit."

Sky Valley GeoDome can be booked online. Price varies based on availability and season.

The property also has the Bear Creek treehouse rental and a cabin with barrel sauna rental.
