Revive I-5 to impact traffic between Tukwila and Seattle overnight this weekend

Beginning Friday night crews will close three northbound lanes between Swift Avenue and Michigan Street ramps until 4 a.m. Monday.

SEATTLE — Revive I-5 work will impact northbound lanes south of Seattle this weekend as crews work to replace concrete panels, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).

WSDOT said beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, crews will close three northbound lanes between Swift Avenue and Michigan Street ramps until 4 a.m. Monday. The Bailey Street on-ramp will also be closed during the work. Two lanes will remain open all week.

WSDOT said the closures will allow crews to replace 700 concrete panels. Work will also include grinding rough surfaces and removing ruts in the road.

This weekend's work marks the sixth of 13 weekend-long closures. WSDOT said weeknight lane and ramp closures on north and southbound I-5 will continue between Seattle and Tukwila until fall 2024.

WSDOT is warning drivers as Seattle is expected to have a busy weekend with the start of the Mariners season, Sakura-Con at the Seattle Convention Center and Monster Jam at Lumen Field.

Drivers are asked to plan for extra travel time, consider alternative routes, or consider transit options.
