Team USA's best remaining chances for Winter Olympics medals

Team USA could still collect 20 medals before it's over.

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea — It hasn’t been the greatest Winter Olympics for the United States, but here is a selection of final-week competitors who have a strong chance to add to that medal tally.

USA women’s hockey: The Americans will be determined to grasp the gold medal from Canada’s clutches, on Wednesday night (Seattle time). It won't be easy. The Canadians seem to have a mental edge.

Elana Meyers Taylor: One of the top bobsledders in the world, Meyers Taylor figures to be right in the mix in the women’s competition. Medal round is Wednesday.

Lindsey Vonn: Having already triumphed by taking the moral high ground over vicious internet trolls, she could win again – on the course in the downhill on Tuesday night (Seattle time).

Mikaela Shiffrin: Surprisingly failed to medal in her favored slalom but should be back to her best in the combined, where she will go in as a favorite. Due to weather concerns, it's been moved up to Thursday (Wednesday night in Seattle).

USA Skiing Halfpipe: Four Americans have qualified for the Thursday final, including 2014 Olympic gold medalist David Wise.
