Seahawks extend losing streak, fall to the 49ers 28-16

Terry Hollimon talks with Amity about Drew Lock’s performance and DK Metcalf’s ejection in the Hawk Zone. Sponsored by Muckleshoot Casino.

SEATTLE — The Seahawks suffered their fourth straight loss on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.

“There’s no such thing as moral victories in the NFL, but it was much better than the first time we faced off against the 49ers on Thanksgiving where they just dismantled the team,” Terry Hollimon said. “The team was competitive.”

Backup quarterback Drew Lock started in place of injured Geno Smith. Lock threw for 269 yards and two touchdowns. He was Hollimon’s player of the game following his solid performance after a short week of practice as the starter.

“Drew Lock showed up, and he played well,” he said. “It just wasn’t enough to get the job done.”

The Seahawks defense gave up 527 yards of offense to the 49ers. Quarterback Brock Purdy ended the day with 368 passing yards, and Christian McCaffrey had 145 yards on the ground.

“They have monsters on every level of the offense,” Hollimon said. “It’s one of the toughest competitions in the league. It’s unfortunate they’re in our conference. But we’re going to have to find a way to beat these guys.”

Receiver DK Metcalf got ejected after a fight in the fourth quarter. Hollimon says a 49er took a cheap shot at Metcalf, but Metcalf got caught retaliating.

“With DK, he has a reputation that precedes him. They know he’s a guy that’s going to start some stuff. He’s going to try to back himself up. He’s passionate.”

The 10-3 Philadelphia Eagles will travel to Seattle for Monday Night Football this week. The Seahawks look to bounce back after a rough stretch of games, but the Eagles are also coming off a loss to Dallas.

“They are going to be reeling,” Hollimon said. “They are going to be ready to look for some revenge.”

The Eagles have an explosive offense led by quarterback Jalen Hurts, but the Seahawks are working to stay in playoff contention.

“Hopefully there’s going to come a point, this week, we are going to turn things around,” Hollimon said. “We are going to get that mojo going back here in Seattle.”

Hawk Zone is sponsored by Muckleshoot Casino. The band behind the Top Gun classic “Take My Breath Away” is coming to Muckleshoot. Don’t miss Berlin with special guest Boy Toy on Thursday, December 21. Get your tickets now at the Muckleshoot Events Center website.
