Firework show at Space Needle in Seattle rings in 2024

The event featured hundreds of lighted drones in the Seattle sky in what is the largest structurally launched fireworks show in North America.

SEATTLE — T-Mobile New Year's at the Needle returned to the Space Needle to ring in 2024, as part of a fireworks show that was broadcast live in Seattle, Portland and Spokane.

Those in Seattle were invited to watch the show at the Seattle Center, with the best viewing available near the International Fountain.

This was the first time Portland and Spokane joined the countdown to 2024.

The New Year's at the Needle show featured hundreds of lighted drones in the Seattle sky in what is the largest structurally launched fireworks show in North America. All fireworks were choreographed to a soundtrack celebrating the biggest moments of 2023.

According to the Space Needle, this year's event promised to be the "largest show yet in the event's 32-year history."

“We are thrilled to share that T-Mobile New Year’s at the Needle will be our longest and most dazzling show to date to ring in 2024,” said Ron Sevart, Space Needle president and CEO. “The Space Needle and West Coast represent the last major time zone to ring in the New Year. We’re excited to see the rest of the Pacific Northwest join in the celebration with the expanded broadcast this year and hope to celebrate across the West Coast in the future.”

The 16-minute show began seven minutes before midnight with a performance by 500 drones illuminating the skies next to the Space Needle. The tower became a canvas for 10-minute light shows at 10 p.m., 10:30 p.m., 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., leading up to the celebration.
