Portland, Vancouver police make multiple arrests and recover several stolen vehicles

More than a dozen arrests were reported and several vehicles were seized during a multi-agency stolen vehicle operation this weekend.

PORTLAND, Ore. β€” Police across the metro area ran simultaneous stolen vehicle operations this weekend that landed over a dozen people in handcuffs and led to the recovery of several vehicles.

Portland police reported that officers recovered eight stolen vehicles on Saturday. The drivers of three vehicles that had been reported stolen were arrested and two guns were seized from the cars.

Reports of car theft have dropped in half over the last year which PPB attributes to stolen vehicle missions. There were 420 reports in February 2024 compared to 806 last February, according to Portland police

Across the river, the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) made several traffic stops that led to arrests for a variety of crimes. 

VPD says officers pinned in a stolen vehicle and arrested the driver who they say also had stolen property. 

Another driver of a vehicle without plates drove off from Portland police into Vancouver at speeds of over 100 miles per hour. Officers attempted to pull the car over, but the driver drove back into Oregon before being stopped by spike strips in Tigard. 

Another driver was arrested for theft and forgery while several passengers were arrested for being in possession of stolen property, forgery, and organized retail theft. 

A known assault suspect was also arrested at a shopping plaza, according to VPD.

Taking care of business on a Saturday night. πŸ’ͺπŸš” Last night, VPD conducted another stolen vehicle operation, running concurrently with Portland Police’s Stolen Vehicle Operation. During the operation: πŸš” A traffic stop was conducted on a black Toyota RAV4 driven by a known theft and forgery suspect. Several other passengers were arrested for charges including Possession of Stolen Property, Forgery and Organized Retail Theft. πŸš” Known assault suspect was arrested at a shopping plaza. πŸš” Officers located an occupied stolen Honda Ridgeline. The truck was successfully pinned and driver was arrested for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Possession of Stolen Property II. πŸš” An un-plated Mercedes eluded Portland Police into Vancouver at speeds over 100 mph, eluded VPD Officers when they attempted a traffic stop, fled back into Oregon and was eventually spiked by Tigard Police. πŸ’ͺπŸ‘ VPD will continue conducting SVO’s in an effort to reduce vehicle thefts and the crimes associated with stolen vehicles. #vanpoliceusa
