OLYMPIA, Wash. – Gail Doyle’s family, struggling to heal from her June murder, has a new reason to be upset.

Doyle’s accused killer, James Stidd, wants to be released while he awaits trial for the murder. Stidd is scheduled to go before a judge to ask for a furlough in January. His trial is set to start later in the month.

Laci Doyle, one of Gail Doyle’s three adult children, said Stidd does not deserve any breaks.

“He knows everything. He just isn’t talking,” said Laci Doyle, who said they family cannot heal until they find Doyle’s remains.

They refuse to have a funeral until they know what happened to her.

“We just don’t feel right doing it without finding her,” said Laci Doyle. “How could we do something without having her?”

Doyle was last seen in June at an Olympia tavern arguing with Stidd, a longtime friend.

Police arrested Stidd after investigators said they found Doyle’s blood and DNA on a hammer and in the garage of Stidd’s Thurston County home. Witnesses told police they saw Stidd at a garbage transfer station after Doyle’s family reported her missing.

If convicted, Stidd could face life in prison, but Laci Doyle would be willing to allow him to eventually be released if he told investigators what happened to Gail Doyle.

“I hope he tells us where she is,” said Laci Doyle. “Granted, I know he doesn’t have a heart, or he wouldn’t have done the things he did.”
