A Grays Harbor County woman says a man tried to force her into his pickup as she was walking home from work Wednesday night. AnnMarie Shuck of Montesano says she never had a reason to fear walking home from work alone until now.
“I was scared to go outside to check the mail today,” said Shuck, who fought off the man.
“It was really, really scary,” said Shuck. “There was a moment when I thought, ‘I’m going to die.'”
Shuck was nearly home after working her shift at a pizza restaurant. Around 8:30 p.m. a man driving a blue Chevy Avalanche pickup parked beside her and said he had a flat tire. Instead, she told police he grabbed her and tried to drag her into the passenger seat.
“I just dropped my body weight,” said Shuck, who started kicking the man and screaming.
Neighbors who heard the yells saw the truck speed away.
“I ran the rest of the way home screaming the whole time trying to get people’s attention,” said Shuck.
She described the man as a light-skinned, Hispanic male in his late 20s or early 30s, with short black hair and a red t-shirt.
Until he’s arrested, Shuck said she’ll be scared.
“I just don’t want this to happen to anyone else,” said Shuck. “I just want him caught.”
