Looters may have hit Port Orchard house damaged by tornado

The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office is investigating a report of apparent looting at a home damaged by the EF2 tornado in Port Orchard.

PORT ORCHARD — Kitsap County sheriff's deputies investigated on Thursday a report of apparent looting at a house that had been damaged during last week’s tornado where a television set was missing.

At about 8 a.m., deputies were called to check on an open door at a house on the 2000 block of Serenade Way, off Harris Road SE, said Deputy Scott Wilson, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office. The house is within the area that had been restricted following the Dec. 18 tornado and had been “red tagged” because of tree damage.

A deputy found a side door ajar but nobody inside. The daughter of the resident checked and reported that it appeared a 55-inch television set was missing from the living room.
