Break-in at Inslee, Democratic campaign headquarters

Someone broke into the Seattle office of the Washington State Democrats and Democratic candidate for governor Jay Inslee on Election Day.

Someone broke into the Seattle office of the Washington State Democrats and Democratic candidate for governor Jay Inslee on ElectionDay.

A campaign employee found a broken window and open door when they arrived for work at 5:30 a.m., SeattlePolice said.

SeattlePolice searched the building but did not locate any suspects.

Police haven't said yet whether anything was stolen.

The office contains personal items such as laptops, but it's unknown whether any sensitive election materials were at risk, according to Washington State Democrats Communications Director Benton Strong.

Today is the biggest day of this election, and our staff and volunteers are focused on the effort to talk to thousands of voters across Washington state. We are looking forward to getting out as many votes as possible before 8 p.m. tonight, Strong said.

The office is located at 901 Rainier Avenue South. It also houses Organizing for America.
