3 hospitalized after house fire in Federal Way

Firefighters responded to the scene shortly before 3 p.m. on Tuesday. Plumes of black smoke could be seen from Tacoma.

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Three people have been hospitalized with smoke inhalation following a house fire in Federal Way on Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the scene in the 37000 block of 4th Avenue SW in Federal Way, near the border of Tacoma, shortly before 3 p.m. on April 2. 

South King Fire Chief Dave Van Valkenburg said three people suffered minor smoke inhalation and were transported to the hospital. The fire department has not provided additional information about the incident or how the fire may have started. 

Video from neighbors shows roaring flames consuming the house as firefighters worked to extinguish the fire. Plumes of black smoke could be seen from Tacoma, Edgewood and Fife.
