Puget Sound Energy customers hit by coronavirus crisis could get help with bills

Qualifying customers who have felt financial impacts of the coronavirus pandemic can get up to $1,000 in utility bill credits, the company announced.

BELLEVUE, Wash. — Puget Sound Energy customers who have lost jobs or cannot work because of the financial fallout of the coronavirus pandemic might qualify for up to $1,000 in utility bill credits.

The company expanded its Crisis-Affected Customer Assistance Program (CACAP) program to a broadter group of customers. $11 million is available to help people pay the bills.

A qualified PSE customer must have a monthly household income limit up to 250% of Federal Poverty Level, or a monthly household income of $3,592 for a household of two people, or $5,458 for a household of four.

This program will be available to PSE’s residential customers in Island, King, Kitsap, Kittitas, Lewis, Pierce, Skagit, Snohomish, Thurston and Whatcom counties who meet the household size and income criteria.  

The utility had previously announced that it would not disconnect customers who cannot pay at this time.
