NEW YORK — Oscar nominee and Mountlake Terrace High School graduate Lily Gladstone attended the 2024 Met Gala Monday evening.

Lily Gladstone wore a black gown with an organza cape by Gabriela Hearst. Not only was it beautiful, but the complete look had a deeper meaning.

“We wanted me to feel draped in the power of my ancestors,” she said. “For Kiowa and Blackfeet, our ancestors are the stars, that’s where we come from. ... I feel like it’s so long overdue that we have so much Indigenous representation and this sort of upper echelon world of high luxury fashion, because that is our aesthetic, you know, Natives have always loved luxury."

The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute benefit gala celebrated the opening of the "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" exhibit. This year's theme is “The Garden of Time,” inspired by J.G. Ballard's 1962 short story of the same name.

Gladstone is currently starring in a Hulu limited series called "Under the Bridge" alongside Golden Globe nominee Riley Keough. The true crime series is also set in nearby Vancouver Island.

Gladstone was the first Native American nominated in the Best Actress category at last year's Academy Awards.
