Suspect forced his way into Bellevue home, held victim at gunpoint during crime spree

The 44-year-old man allegedly stole a vehicle from a Bellevue garage and carjacked another vehicle in Woodinville.

BELLEVUE, Wash. — A 44-year-old man was arrested April 9 following a crime spree in King and Snohomish counties.

According to Bellevue police, the following charges will be forwarded to the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office: first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, malicious mischief, unlawful possession of a firearm and theft of a motor vehicle.

Around 12:30 p.m. on April 9, Bellevue police responded to a home in the 12000 block of NE 26th Place. When they arrived, they were told the male suspect crashed a vehicle near that location.

After crashing, the man, who has not been formally charged, reportedly forced his way into a Bellevue home and demanded a victim's car keys at gunpoint. The victim gave the man keys to a vehicle that was not there at the time, fled to another room and called 911 and armed herself, according to information from police.

The suspect left the home. When he realized the keys were not to a vehicle in the driveway, he allegedly fired a shot through the front door.

The suspect went into the garage, got into a vehicle and backed through the garage door, according to police. The suspect fled the area as officers responded to the 911 call.

Bellevue police determined the identity of the suspect based on evidence left at the scene.

Later in the afternoon, the suspect allegedly carjacked a vehicle in Woodinville.

Police broadcast a region-wide bulletin with the description of the suspect and carjacked vehicle.

An Arlington police officer later found the vehicle and suspect and a chase ensued. The suspect reportedly crashed and was arrested. He was transferred to Bellevue police custody and booked into jail.
