Man shoots ex-girlfriend's new partner, then himself in Tacoma, police say

The victim is being treated at Harborview Medical Center.

TACOMA, Wash. — A man was found dead in Tacoma after police said he shot his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend and then turned the gun on himself after driving back to his residence.

The Federal Way Police Department (FWPD) said officers responded to MuiltiCare Indigo Urgent Care just after 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday after a gunshot victim arrived seeking treatment.

Police were told the victim was sitting in his car with his girlfriend at the Mariposa Apartments off South 18th Street in Federal Way when shots were fired into the vehicle.

The girlfriend was not injured, and a police investigation eventually revealed that her ex-boyfriend was the shooter.

The victim is now being treated at Harborview Medical Center for his injuries.

When police arrived at the suspected shooter's residence to contact him, he was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.

There are no outstanding suspects at this time, according to Federal Way police, but the investigation is ongoing.
