Stop by these five events before it’s too late

Nancy Guppy from Art Zone talks about five events she thinks are worth your time.

SEATTLE — If you’re looking for weekend plans look no further. Nancy Guppy stops by New Day Northwest to talk about these five events that are sure to entertain! 

  1. Poet Quenton Baker’s powerful exhibit “Ballast” at the Frye Art Museum examines the slave revolt aboard The Creole in 1841 through poetry and installations. The Frye Art Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday 11 a.m. through 5 p.m.You can see "Ballast" through February 3. 
  2. The local modern dance company Whim W’him premieres “3 x 3” at Cornish Playhouse at Seattle Center. The production “3 x 3” features three new dance works by three established choreographers. You can catch the show Jan. 18, 19, 25 and 26 at the Cornish Playhouse 201 Mercer St.
    Seattle. Tickets range from $15-$55.
  3. The 14th edition of the Children’s Film Festival is being held at the Northwest Film Forum at 1515 12th Ave, Seattle from January 14 through February 9th. For a full list of features check out the festival schedule. Festival passes are still available.   
  4. A class on Sashiko Mending at Jules consignment store in Madrona,1135 34th Ave, Seattle. Sashiko is a form of embroidery that is used to repair fabric, often denim, in an artful way. 
  5. Country Lips, a country music band, celebrates their 10-year anniversary with a blowout show on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at the Tractor Tavern, 5213 Ballard Ave NW, Seattle. Tickets cost $15.
