SEATTLE — Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling make a great comedic duo both on and off-screen.

They star in “The Fall Guy,” an action/comedy loosely based on the hit 1980’s television show.

Gosling plays a stuntman and Blunt is his ex-girlfriend/director. When he joins the stunt team on her first feature film, their reconciliation is cut short by a whodunit mystery.

Entertainment reporter Kim Holcomb talked to the stars about their roles and appreciation for their own stunt counterparts.

HOLCOMB: "Emily, if you had to rely on Ryan to execute one stunt with you, what would it be? Would it be driving, would it be parkour, would it be martial arts? Where does his strength lie?”

BLUNT: “I don't know if Ryan can jump like amazing Ben Jenkin, his stunt double for all the parkour.”

GOSLING: “Yeah, I need stunt doubles for a reason.”

BLUNT: “What were the other options? Driving? I don't know. I feel like we didn't drive together, did we? Ryan, can you do any of these things, can you help me with any of these stunts?”

GOSLING: “Listen, we're honoring the stunt community in this film, the wonderful stunt performers in this movie...”

BLUNT: “So I would take any of those guys over this guy."

HOLCOMB: "There is some amazing wish fulfillment with some of the things you get to do in the film - whether it's making your ex be lit on fire, or kicking in the door to a hotel room when the key card doesn't work. Was there anything that was really gratifying to do?"

GOSLING: "The key thing was very - I'm glad you picked that out, because it was very funny.”

BLUNT: “That was satisfying because it does enrage you, doesn't it?”

GOSLING: “It enrages you - it's the end of the night, you think you do everything and (it doesn’t work.)”

BLUNT: “Or you just come back from a dip in the hotel pool and you don't look your best and you have to go down to get the key card. I'd break a door down for that. I'd break a door down to stop people from looking at me in my swim hat.”

GOSLING: “I believe that."

HOLCOMB: "Roughly 11 years ago, Ryan, I interviewed you for ‘The Place Beyond The Pines’ and asked you - because you're so perfect in everyone's eyes - I wanted you to tell me one thing you're terrible at. And really, Emily, this extends to you as well…”

GOSLING: “Interviews.”

BLUNT: “Interviews. Sharing your private life.”

GOSLING: “Interviews are hard. Because there may be no stupid questions, but it turns out, there are stupid answers.”

BLUNT: “No, I think you're very good at the evasive batting or gentle batting away of questions. I've learned a lot. You're like a little ping pong player. Evading questions. You're snakey about it.”

GOSLING: “Snakey? That devolved really quickly."

BLUNT: "He's also an amazing baker.”

GOSLING: “But you've never had my baking so you can't really say.”

BLUNT: “No, I just assumed - listen, if you're going out and you're buying muffin tins, you're going to be a good baker. If you care enough to get the right muffin tin, you know how to bake.”

GOSLING: “I do flute my crusts.”

BLUNT: (laughter) “That just made me so happy."

HOLCOMB: "The movie is a love letter to these (stunt) people working in your industry who, Ryan, you've described them as the people who make us look like movie stars. What is the misconception that the general public who doesn't make films cannot understand about what they contribute to what you do?"

BLUNT: “They do live in the shadows and I don't know why we have to be so secretive about it because the influence they've had on this industry - this industry is not this industry without them. The history of movies goes hand in hand with the history of stunt performers, from Buster Keaton all the way till now. So, we're flipping the script.”

GOSLING: “We're flipping the script - it ends now.”

“The Fall Guy” opens in theaters May 3.
