Live music in Seattle, week of 12/5 - KEXP's Music That Matters

Celebrate Seattle band The Cave Singer's 10th Anniversary at The Tractor this Friday and Saturday.

Each week, The Morning Show's DJ John Richards from KEXP 90.3 FM makes recommendations to help us sort through the many incredible options for live music in Seattle's music scene.

This is KEXP's list of the Music that Matters for the week of 12/5.

LIVE MUSIC

  • THURS 12/7 Valerie June - The Showbox - This singer-songwriter from the south brings her unique Tennessee twang to Seattle. Her newest album called "The Order of Time."
  • THURS 12/7 METZ - Neumos - This Canadian noise-punk band is signed to Seattle's Sub Pop Records. Their third album "Strange Peace" came out in September.
  • FRI 12/8 Grizzly Bear - The Moore - These awesome indie rockers hail from Brooklyn and came out with their newest album "Painted Ruins" earlier this summer.
  • FRI 12/8 & SAT 12/9 The Cave Singers - The Tractor - This Seattle band celebrates their 10th anniversary this year. They are also set to play Leavenworth's Timbrrr Winter Music Festival in January.
  • SAT 12/9 The California Honeydrops - The Crocodile - This American blues and R&B band released their latest record "A River's Invitation" in 2015.
  • SAT 12/9 Patterson Hood - The Sunset - Patterson Hood, frontman of Drive-By Truckers, plays two shows at the Sunset. His dad was the longtime bassist for the famed Muscle Shoals rhythm section.
