'Band in Seattle' is back, but things are going to be a little different this year

Season 10 kicks off rocking a new stage. #k5evening

SEATTLE — Over the years, "Band in Seattle" has celebrated the music scene with a program that gives an inside look of Pacific Northwest up-and-coming bands. For the first time, bands will not perform at Victory Studios, where the past season was filmed.

For season 10, the live performances will be at the iconic music venue Central Saloon, which is part of a collaboration to facilitate a connection between the bands and concertgoers.

“I wanted to see how we could share the live music that is produced here every night,” said the owner of the Central Saloon, Eric Manegold. “And I'm so happy that Band in Seattle will capture that live moment on stage.”

The Center Saloon has a rich history when it comes to music - many legendary bands have played there like Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Melvins, just to name a few.

“The stage is a discovery platform. Somebody is going to see somebody and go, 'Wow!'” said Manegold. “I am so happy that Band in Seattle will capture that.”

But it's not all about location; as part of this collaboration, a crew from KING 5 will attend every music performance this season to get exclusive one-on-one interviews with the bands.

“Definitely, a rock band like indie rock heavy, somebody that we think is on the rise,” said Michael Gill from the Central Saloon. “Having another piece of media is going to help them out.”

Having more people hear these bands than just the those who come to the club will make a big difference for the bands.

Soon, viewers and fans will be able to enjoy these live performances on KONG TV on Saturdays at 10:30 p.m. and KING 5 on Sundays at 11:30 p.m. Band in Seattle will also have the performances on its YouTube channel.

But for now, if you want to be part of Season 10 of "Band in Seattle," this is the right time to enjoy live performances and learn about new bands.

Let's celebrate the great music scene that Seattle has and support the next generation of musicians.
