SB I-5 reopens in Pierce County after crash

Two people were injured when a motorcycle rear-ended a car near Mounts Road.

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Southbound I-5 was closed near DuPont after two people were injured when a motorcycle rear-ended a car Monday evening.

The crash occurred near Mounts Road. The two people on the motorcycle were ejected and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

No injuries were reported to the people in the car, according to Washington State Patrol.

Traffic was diverted onto Nisqually Road SW. Backups reached nearly 6 miles. 

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
