Aerospace companies are working on crucial technology to not only bring about safer skies, but clearer and cleaner skies too.

Worldwide we are trying to fit in more airplanes and more passengers into an existing network of airports. Boeing estimates there are 23,000 airliners flying around the globe today. In less than 20 years, that number will double to 46,000.

As safe as things are now, that means just to stay where we are in terms of the number of incidents and accidents, we have to double our level of safety.
