How your generosity continues to save lives

Donations to the Swedish Foundation go directly toward vital initiatives at Providence Swedish to ensure quality care. Sponsored by Providence Swedish.

SEATTLE — Swedish is the largest not-for-profit healthcare provider in the Pacific Northwest, and donations to its Swedish Foundation help fund research, patient and caregiver support services and equipment.

“There’s so much activity in regards to innovation and technology and being able to support patients and our caregivers as well,” said Renee Rassilyer-Bomers, chief nursing officer, Providence Swedish. “The ways to fund that is through the generosity of donors who are able to give us the extra funds needed to support those efforts.”

Some donors prefer to honor their physician, nurse or program where they were treated with a specific donation. Others donate to the greatest need fund for the foundation to direct funds where they are needed most. One hundred percent of gifts go directly to programs and services at Swedish.

Donations support programs promoting well-being and safety, including weapons detection and health equity initiatives. The Swedish Foundation also funds new equipment, like NICU infrastructure upgrades and life-saving research.

“We’re very proud of the extensive research we have in both oncology and nursing,” Rassilyer-Bomers said. “Many of our physician partners and nurses are actively involved in trials, and we could not do that work without donors.”

The Swedish Foundation also funds several programs to support the mental and emotional health of its nurses. These include respite rooms to provide nurses a quiet space within the hospital and Harmony Hill, which gives nurses a retreat to reflect and rejuvenate. Nurses are also supported after traumatic situations and provided with professional development, education and cutting-edge technology.

“Our Power of Nursing campaign really brings back funding to support the well-being of our nurses,” Rassilyer-Bomers said.

Many of Swedish’s grateful patients want to give back and say thank you to the physicians, nurses and staff for the care they received, and the Swedish Foundation provides a meaningful way to contribute.

You can make a tax-deductible donation at give.swedishfoundation.org or by mail to the Swedish Foundation, 747 Broadway, Seattle 98122.
