Protestors clear out after blocking University Bridge, demanding cease-fire in Gaza

The Seattle Police Department said all northbound and southbound lanes of the University Bridge were blocked during the protest.

SEATTLE — A group led by Jewish Seattleites blocked the University Bridge for several hours Thursday afternoon.

The group was demonstrating on the eighth night of Hanukkah to demand an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, according to a media release from Jewish Voice for Peace.

Photos showed protestors carrying an 18-foot menorah and a large poster that read, "The whole world is watching."

The organization has participated in multiple similar demonstrations nationwide in recent weeks.

The Seattle Police Department said all northbound and southbound lanes of the University Bridge were blocked during the demonstration.

Members of the Portland chapter of Jewish Voice also blocked traffic on the city's Burnside Bridge in protest.
