Wild weather Friday before calm weekend in Western Washington

Heavy rain and hail hammered parts of Pierce County during Friday's evening commute, while Seattle stayed mostly sunny and dry.

Friday brought an assortment of wild weather to parts of Western Washington — just in time for the evening commute.

Significant rainfall led to street flooding on Auburn Way near SR 18, stranding some cars on the roadway.

The National Weather Service (NWS) detected a strong thunderstorm over west-central Pierce County. NWS Seattle traced a line of thunderstorms moving northeast from Eatonville to Issaquah.

Viewer Mark Francis recorded this heavy hail squall in Enumclaw that gave way to steady rain.

Friday's cooler temperatures will carry into the weekend. Scattered showers continue Saturday with temperatures in the mid to low 70s. The KING 5 Weather Center forecasts more sunshine for Sunday.
