Burien is King County's fastest growing community; and last year, Zillow says home values shot up 14.7 percent. However, it's still relatively affordable with a median home value of $437,000.
The diverse community, restaurants and six miles of shoreline make it an attractive place to live.
The growing pains are real though.
On the anniversary of Columbine, students in Burien protested recent crimes there, one involving the killing of two teenagers.
Mayor Jimmy Matta said it will take a community effort to address the safety issues, but he's committed to listening and doing what he can to make an impact.
