Have you seen him? Tacoma police release sketch of possible suspect in Point Defiance Park stabbing

Police said a woman was walking on the Spine Trail at about 1 p.m. on Feb. 10 when the suspect pinned the woman to the ground and repeatedly stabbed her.

TACOMA, Wash. — Police released a sketch of a possible suspect who repeatedly stabbed a woman at Point Defiance Park last week.

The Tacoma Police Department said a woman was walking on the Spine Trail at about 1 p.m. on Feb. 10 when she was attacked by a man. The suspect pinned the woman to the ground and repeatedly stabbed her. Witnesses intervened and the suspect ran away toward the Owen Beach parking lot where people lost sight of him.

Investigators said the woman was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening wounds.

There is a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and charges filed against the suspect in this incident. If you recognize the person in the sketch, police said to call Crime Stoppers of Pierce County at tpcrimestoppers.com, call (800) 222-TIPS, or use the P3 tips app.  If you encounter the person depicted in this picture, call 911.

Crime Stoppers said the police are seeking dash camera video from anyone who was in the park on the day of the assault or on the days leading up to it, as the suspect may have been recorded by them at some point.

Metro Parks Tacoma and Tacoma police urge visitors to be aware of their surroundings while at the park and to report anything suspicious if they see it.

Metro Parks added security emphasis patrols after the incident and contacted security camera providers to request they be placed at the Pearl Street entrance to the park and the intersection behind the zoo maintenance building.
