The USS Momsen and USS Somerset are in Seattle this week celebrating Seafair Fleet Week with free tours.
The Royal Canadian Navy ships HMCS Yellowknife and HMCS Whitehouse are also in town for Seafair Fleet Week, along with two U.S. Coast Guard vessels. Seafair Fleet Week is a summer tradition in the Pacific Northwest that started in 1950.
The public can tour the U.S. Navy and Royal Canadian Navy ships every day until Sunday afternoon.
Tours of the U.S. Navy ships are available on Pier 90:
- Wednesday, Aug. 1: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Thursday, Aug. 2: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Friday, Aug 3: 2 p.m. – 7 p.m.
- Saturday, Aug. 4: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Sunday, Aug. 5: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Tours of the Royal Canadian Navy ships are available on Pier 69:
- Wednesday, Aug. 1: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Thursday, Aug. 2: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Friday, Aug. 3: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Saturday, Aug. 4: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Sunday, Aug. 5: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Cameras are allowed on the ships but lenses cannot be larger than 100mm, according to the Seafair website.
Prohibited items on the ships include:
- Skateboard, bicycles, or strollers
- Pets, with the exception of service animals
- Glass bottles
- Defensive sprays or weapons of any kind
- Federally illegal drugs or paraphernalia including marijuana
