The return of warmer temperatures is expected to draw large crowds to Alki Beach in West Seattle over the coming months.
To help keep the noise level down, the Seattle Police Department will once again be conducting noise enforcement patrols in the neighborhood. The patrols started on Friday, May 10.
Anyone whose vehicle can be heard from over 75 feet away could receive a $135 citation, police said.
Last year, Seattle City Council passed an updated noise ordinance granting Seattle police the authority to enforce excess noise in the Alki neighborhood.
Homeowners have long complained about loud engine noise, blaring stereos, and screeching tires on warm evenings in the beachfront community.
