A Seattle area photographer is celebrating a big honor.
Photographer Tim Durkan shared a success on Facebook: getting published in National Geographic!
"My how time flies... 1 year ago today I snapped this little photo of our favorite Space Needle - one of my favorites! Not only has it racked up over a million views (sweet!) the fine editors over at National Geographic have acquired it for use in one of their educational books! How cool is that? I haven’t been able to take any photos in over a month so this bit of good news is making me feel a little better :-)"
In a video shared with KING 5, Durkan recalls the day when he snapped the photo of the iconic Seattle landmark.
"Indeed it's been about a year... I took that shot of the Space Needle against the backdrop of the rising moving full moon," recalled Durkan. "When the moon actually did come up, I have to tell you, I was blown away. It's actually one of my favorite shots. Even a year later, I get excited about it."
"That's the story of my full moon against the Space Needle - one of the coolest buildings in the world in my favorite city in the world."
In addition to being a talented photographer, Tim is also the brother of Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan.
A big congrats to Tim!
