Renton community members to share concerns about street where woman, 3 children were killed

King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn and a representative from the King County Sheriff's Office will be in attendance.

RENTON, Wash. — Community members in Renton will gather Tuesday evening to speak with officials about a street where a woman and three children were killed in a car crash, citing ongoing safety concerns.

Andrea Hudson, 38, Buster Brown, 12, and Matilda and Eloise Wilcoxson, 12 and 13, were killed in a collision on the 1900 block of 140th Avenue Southeast in the Fairwood neighborhood. The driver accused of causing the crash was allegedly going upwards of 100 miles per hour as he approached the intersection, where he ran a red light and t-boned Hudson's car, according to court documents.

In the aftermath of the collision, those who lived nearby told KING 5 that 140th Avenue had become a "raceway." The families of the victims gathered together at a press conference in the days afterward, calling on officials to do whatever they could to make the intersection where the crash took place more safe.

"These are not the first fatalities that have happened here... but with help, they can be the last," the father of Matilda and Eloise, Chase Wilcoxson, said. "We call on these authorities and leaders of our community to analyze and research what structural and other changes could be made here so nothing like this ever happens again."

The community meeting will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at NW Life Church in Renton, located at 13120 SE 192nd St. King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn and a representative with the King County Sheriff's Office will be there to hear from people.
