Mother pleads for return of her children's late father's military dog tags after they were stolen

"I won't be angry or frustrated," the woman said. "I just want them back because those are irreplaceable."

KITSAP COUNTY, Wash. — The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a wallet and dog tags of a woman's late husband were recently stolen out of her car.

"It's been rough. I feel like, like every day, it's like a roller coaster, like, up and down, up and down," said Ashely Yundt.

It's been one month since the father of her children, Brady Yundt, passed and she and her two young boys are trying to cope without a father.

This week brought a new low when Ashley and her sons returned from Brady's funeral in his home state of Wisconsin. She mistakenly left her wallet in her car, which was broken into at her apartment complex.

"Tuesday morning, I got in my car and I noticed that my center console was opened up and I thought that was weird," Yundt said.

She then noticed a credit card charge at a vape shop in Bremerton, but it wasn't the money she was worried about. Her children's late father was active duty in the Navy and served for 11 years. She had his dog tags in her wallet for safe keeping while traveling and she's desperate to get them back.

"It's been frustrating because they're supposed to go to the boys. It's not even about me. It's about the boys. They don't have those," Yundt said.

This is as Ashely and her children are trying to get through their first Christmas without their dad.

"It's not been easy. It's been possibly the hardest thing I've ever gone through in my entire life and probably ever will go through," Yundt said.

Ashely said Brady had a huge interest in cars, was selfless and would do anything to help a friend.

"Anybody who knows him knows he was goofy. He was funny, very smart, very career-driven. The one thing he dedicated everything to was the military. And so that's where it's frustrating for me because those dog tags, they mean a lot," Yundt said.

She's praying someone will have a change of heart and return a piece of Brady for her boys to hold on to.

"I won't be angry or frustrated. I just want them back because those are irreplaceable," Yundt said.
