The 28-year-old suspect is accused of stealing dozens of the cards from the warehouse connected to Mox Boarding House.

SEATTLE — A 28-year-old man accused of stealing $40,000 worth of collectible gaming cards has been arrested by the Seattle Police Department (SPD).

The man reportedly stole Magic: The Gathering cards from a Ballard warehouse where he temporarily worked and began selling them online after his work contract ended, police said.

A manager initially reported the theft to police on Jan. 23 after noticing "substantial discrepancies" in the Magic card stock, according to the SPD blotter. The man had stopped working at the warehouse just days before.

The business found Magic cards similar to those that were missing from the inventory were being sold online from Washington. An envelope from an order through the online marketplace had the suspect's name and address on it, police said.

Officers served a warrant at his home and a majority of the $40,000 worth of Magic cards were recovered. The suspect is booked into King County Jail, and has not yet been officially charged.
