Maybe you've just moved to the area and have never been to the San Juan Islands, or maybe you haven't been in a while. Either way, there's plenty to explore, and food and lifestyle blogger Stephanie Forrer of Eat, Drink, Travel, Y'all! shares her must-visit spots.

Less than a two-hour drive north from Seattle, a jaunt to the islands starts on a ferry from Anacortes. Make sure to check the ferry schedule and make a reservation (a must during the summer months).

When headed to San Juan Island for a long weekend, make sure you take time to unwind with a hike at American Camp, located on the south end of the island. Beautiful grassy bluffs and rocky cliffs await at this historical site that's part of the San Juan Island National Historical Park.

Head back into town and spend time cruising around Friday Harbor and checking out the restaurants and shops.

Forrer says head to Lopez Island and start your day with a salted caramel cookie from Holly B's Bakery before you head for a walk at Iceberg Point and unwind into the serenity of the sound. Forrer suggests treating yourself to a unique dinner at Ursa Minor, where they use local produce from farmers and producers.

Just a few ways to enjoy our local treasures while experiencing something new. You can follow Stephanie’s adventures on her blog Eat, Drink, Travel, Y'all! or on social media.
