Lake fishing season kicks off Saturday, along with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife’s annual Trout Fishing Derby.
Watch out for green tags on trout you catch. If you bring the tags in to sporting goods dealers and other businesses, you can claim a prize. There’s over 1,000 prizes totaling $38,000, according to WDFW.
The tagged fish are in over 100 stocked lakes statewide.
The derby will run Saturday through October 31.
There’s no entrance fee, but you must have a valid license to participate.
