Our TV audience will notice several enhancements to our newscasts, starting with the windows into our studio -- that provides of view of our 360-degree set -- from our location across from Safeco Field.

Another key addition to the studio is the Microsoft Surface Hub, a first-of-its-kind collaboration device that features an 84-inch, 4K touchscreen display with pen and touchscreen capabilities that will improve our storytelling and reporting.

Traffic and weather will be faster and more interactive. We'll share your photos and comments quickly on-air. In addition, Tracy Taylor will pinpoint alternate traffic routes, include information about street traffic for the first time and have new traffic cameras to show you even more.

Behind the scenes, KING 5 staff now have more collaborative work spaces, streamlined workflows and the very latest interactive, large-screen technology.

Here's a look at what went into the new location -- by the numbers:

  • Tens of thousands of LED lights, including 74 television lights in our new studio
  • 6,000 cables
  • As many as 70 people at one time were working on construction
  • 86 doors
  • 24 months of planning
  • 11 new cameras in addition to a number of existing cameras and lenses from the old studio
  • 261 task chairs plus an additional 81 seats on conference and collaboration areas
  • 296 phones
  • 136 TV displays through the new space
