Three final candidates for Seattle Public Schools superintendent will answer questions at a public forum Thursday night.

The three candidates are Denise Juneau, former Montana state superintendent of public instruction; Dr. Andre D. Spencer, superintendent of Harrison School District Two in Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Dr. Jeanice Kerr Swift, superintendent of Ann Arbor Public Schools in Michigan.

The forum will be moderated by Seattle Public Schools Executive Director of Organization Development and Equity Keisha Scarlett.

Current Seattle Schools Superintendent Dr. Larry Nyland’s contract ends in June 2018.

Juneau served as the Montana state superintendent of public instruction for eight years. A member of the Mandan Hidatsa Tribe, she was the first American Indian woman in the country to be elected to an executive statewide office in 2008.

Spencer has been a superintendent in Colorado for five years and previously worked as a science teacher, assistant principal, principal, and area support superintendent in Baltimore.

Swift, who has worked in Ann Arbor for five years, was named the Michigan Superintendent of the Year in 2018 by the Michigan Association of School Administrators. She has also served as a middle and high school teacher, assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent of instruction, curriculum, and student services in Colorado Springs.

The candidate forum will be held Thursday, March 29 from 5 to 8:15 p.m. at the John Stanford Center Auditorium.
