Woman shot, killed in Seattle's Central District, blocks away from earlier shooting

Seattle police were already in the area responding to a shooting hours earlier that injured a teen girl who was at a bus stop.

SEATTLE — A woman was shot and killed in the Central District Wednesday evening, just hours after another shooting occurred approximately half a mile away.

According to the Seattle Police Department, the woman was found dead at the scene. The shooting happened around 8 p.m. near the intersection of 24th Avenue and South Main Street.

It is unclear what led up to the shooting. No arrests have been made. Seattle Police Chief Adrian Diaz said they are adding more patrols in the area after the recent shootings.

Seattle police officers were already in the area responding to another shooting when they heard the shots fired. At around 2:45 p.m., a 17-year-old girl was shot while at a bus stop near East Jefferson Street and 23rd Avenue. She was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover from her injuries.
