Police searching for suspect accused of killing man in Fife

Investigators said the shooter fled the area of the shooting in what was described as a white sedan before officers arrived.

FIFE, Wash. — Police are searching for the shooter accused of killing a man in Fife on Saturday night.

The Fife Police Department (FPD) was called just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday to investigate a shooting in a business parking lot in the 5300 block of Pacific Highway East. Officers found Nicholas Harju, 28, with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Harju was taken to the hospital, but he died at about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, according to the FPD.

Investigators said the shooter fled the area of the shooting in what was described as a white sedan before officers arrived. Police are still searching for the suspect involved. It is unclear what led up to the shooting.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office identified Harju as the victim on Wednesday.
