University of Washington mascot Dubs II visits New Day

Dubs II and his UW student trainer, Anne-Lise Nilsen, brought a dose of Husky spirit to the New Day studio.

Seattle — The University of Washington is known for its cherry blossoms, academics and of course, its Husky spirit.

Dubs, an Alaskan malamute and mascot for the school, is a fan favorite and an important Husky tradition.

The person who handles him is in charge of fulfilling all his mascot duties and probably bleeds purple and gold.

Anne-Lise Nilsen never missed a UW football game as an undergraduate and spent a lot of her time on the sideline next to Dubs.

Now training Dubs II, she brought him to the show with her and sat down to chat about how she got the chance to become his handler and what the experience has been like so far.

Connect with Dubs II on Facebook, and join other fans on Friday morning (October 5, 2018) for a Facebook Live chat.
