John Doe continues to shed light on the origins of the L.A. punk movement with new book

More Fun in the New World picks up the story in 1982, when punk widened its impact on art and pop culture.

SEATTLE — A man of many talents and co-founder of punk rock pioneer band X, John Doe has returned to his literary side once again to dive into the roots of Los Angeles' punk scene.

More Fun in the New World, a sequel to Doe's Under the Big Black Sun, details the movement and its influence on other artistic and cultural arenas between 1982 and 1987, with contributing chapters from musicians like Jack Grisham and Peter Case and even professional skater Tony Hawk.

John Doe joins New Day to chat about punk rock, what makes the scene so special, and his latest book.
