Snowboard company CAPiTA founded in the PNW

CAPiTA began with a tiny movement in the Pacific Northwest and has now become one of the front-running snowboard manufacturers on the planet.

SEATTLE — CAPiTA began with a tiny movement in the Pacific Northwest and has now become one of the front-running snowboard manufacturers on the planet.

"We've built one of the most unique, clean energy snowboard production companies in the world," said founder Blue Montgomery.

The company was born in the year 2000 out of a desire to shake up the sport and offer something new.

Soon, some of the best snowboarders started riding these decks worldwide, including in the 2018 Winter Olympics.

CAPiTA works closely with the athletes to create boards that live up to their needs.

"These boards have been great so far, they're truly ripping," said rider Chase Josey, "I've had custom boards made this season that are extra fast with good base material. Graphics, too. They have sick artwork on all of their boards."

Hailey, Idaho native Chase Josey rode his CAPiTA board in his Olympic debut at PyeongChang .

Josey competed in the men's halfpipe alongside Shaun White.

As for CAPiTA, it has not always been an easy ride, but despite long shifts, sleepless nights and flirtations with bankruptcy, CAPiTA has weathered every storm that’s threatened to derail it.
