Enjoy a taste of Australia in Burien

Australian Pie Company has been serving authentic meat pies, sausage rolls and pastries since 1998. #k5evening

BURIEN, Wash. — You don't need to hop on a plane for a taste of Australia. All you have to do is visit the Australian Pie Company in Burien.

The shop is owned by Angus Woods. He was born and raised in Sydney, but has called the Pacific Northwest home for nearly 30 years. He said the restaurant is a home away from home for himself and other Aussie transplants.

The pies and sausage rolls are all made in house from scratch. The pastry dough is rolled out on a special machine called a sheeter so it's perfect every time. They produce 1,200 to 1,500 pies and up to three tons of baked goods a week.

The beef pie at the Australian Pie Company is a customer favorite.

Most pies cost less than $5 - and they have a menu full of options including the beef, potato and cheese, which is a customer favorite. They also make several sweet items like biscuits and Lamingtons. The famous Australian treat is a piece of cake dipped in chocolate and covered with coconut.

The Australian Pie Company is located at 425 SW 152nd Street in downtown Burien. It's open every day except Sunday.
