Candles crafted with a harmonious blend of Northwest aromas

Pumarosa Candles are more than rich fragrances, they are experiences of scent. #k5evening

SEATTLE — These candles are more than just beautiful home décor; they're designed to enhance your mood and create a peaceful, elegant ambiance in any space.

“I love candle-making because it's an activity that invites you to be in the present,” said candle maker Vanessa Barrios. “Your senses are involved and it's a beautiful experience.”

Pumarosa Candles are hand-crafted with the highest quality ingredients, including 100% organic soy wax and wooden wicks. But overall, these candles are made with passion and care.

“I am not only pouring the wax with the fragrances, but I am pouring also love and intention into every candle I make.” Barrios said.

The name "Pumarosa" is inspired by Barrios' childhood memories of playing under a Pumarosa tree in her family's garden. The tree was a symbol of beauty and sweetness, and its spirit lives on in every candle we create.

“I decided to name my business Pumarosa because it's a special connection with my mom. My mom passed away when I was just 12 years old,” Barrios said.

As a Venezuelan immigrant, moving to a new country was not easy for Barrios, but she found comfort in candle making, a way of expression using inspiration from the outdoors and mixing both of her cultures. It is important for Barrios Vanessa needs to have fragrances that blends both cultures like Palo Santo, and Driftwood.

“A new place, a new country, a different language. Even the weather is much different here than in my country,” said Barrios. “But I am feeling so grateful.”

Today Pumarosa hand poured candles even offers candle-making experiences, where you can have a hands-on, sensory journey. Immerse yourself in the rich history of candles, discover the captivating stories behind our brand, and craft your unique candle.

In the end, Barrios is grateful for the new opportunities this country has given her, and in particular the Northwest, for her, it was meant to be. Having Pumarosa Candles is a celebration and a unique way to represent her two nations.

“I want Pumarosa to be a product that honors the city and the place that has opened the door for me to grow and be what I want to be,” Barrios said.
