SEATTLE — This couple thinks everyone should book rooms with clam-shell beds, pink shag carpets and heart-shaped tubs.
Since starting A Pretty Cool Hotel Tour on Instagram in 2018, and then TikTok, Corey and Margaret Bienert have taken more than a million followers with them as they explore themed and adults-only hotels all over America. If there's a champagne-glass tub in a room, they'll climb right in.
"Several times. We're obsessed with them,” Margaret said.
Their new book "Hotel Kitsch" will help any traveler seeking a UFO bed or sea-shell-suites.
"Once we started this project, we noticed how much people were actually interested in these places and looking for these places,” Margaret said.
Places like Sequim's Olympic Railway Inn where you can sleep in a themed train car.
“We stayed in the lavender field themed car, which we noticed there was a lot of lavender in the area, so it made more sense when we arrived. It was a really fun unique experience,” Margaret said.
And California's iconic Madonna Inn - we knew it was cool when we sent Kim Holcomb on a visit in 2018.
“It’s just all out decorated with some of the most extraordinary patterns and sparkles and cherubs, it's something you really need to see to believe,” Corey said.
Pocatello Idaho's Black Swan Inn is another favorite - where else can you check out Egypt, the wild west, or a sea cave under one roof?
"It has just some of the most extraordinary designed rooms that we've been to, [it] has an under the sea room, a giant seashell bed,” Corey said.
Browse their Instagram, TikTok and book, and it’s clear these two are having a sweet time sharing these suites.
"It's a really great resource to find those really special, unique and maybe cheesy places that might not be on your radar but are so special,” Margaret said.
