SEATTLE — What an honor to join the esteemed KING 5 News team in beautiful Seattle, Washington!
Hi! My name is Maddie White and I'm coming to Seattle after two years as an anchor/reporter at FOX5 Las Vegas (KVVU). Prior to that, I spent two and a half years in the same role at Idaho News 6 in Boise (KIVI).
I am a San Diego native and I hold a master's degree in journalism from the University of Southern California's Annenberg School. In my undergrad, I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Pace University in New York City.
My occupation as a broadcast journalist has awarded me the opportunity to have a front-row seat on life, and I wouldn't trade that privilege for the world.
The impact of my work is abundant in the markets I've been lucky to serve, like Las Vegas for example. Fueled by my passion for empowering educators and children, I've uncovered unfair hiring practices affecting qualified teachers in the nation's fifth-largest school district, despite critical staffing shortages. This is an example of one story that led to immediate departmental changes.
At the start of the pandemic, I spearheaded a solutions-based reporting franchise called The Rebound: Idaho, which provided viewers across the state with answers, accountability and transparency amid unprecedented times. The Idaho Press Club acknowledged my work in several categories including Reporter of The Year (2020), Watchdog/Investigative (2019), and Best TV Writing (2019).
For years I have admired the KING 5 storytelling legacy and its incredible team of accomplished, determined journalists and truth seekers. I am thrilled to share in their mission of empowering Western Washington's communities through journalism.
One thing about me is I love classic rock-- and I also collect (and cherish!) vintage vinyl so please let me know if you have any favorite record shops in town. I also love to play guitar and sing.
