Lady Washington runs aground in Sequim Bay

The tide rose enough in the afternoon for the ship to get underway.

Lady Washington ran aground in Sequim Bay Monday morning, around 8 a.m.

The ship, built in 1989, is a replica of the historical Lady Washington from the 1700's.

The vessel was loaded with 19 touring passengers, according to Coast Guard Petty Officer Ali Flockerzi.

The tide had risen enough at 3:10 p.m. for the ship to get underway, and the vessel conducted sea trials.

The ship ran aground due to reported winds, according to Flockerzi. However, an internal investigation about the cause is underway.

The vessel did not suffer any damage.

No injuries were reported.
