Krispy Kreme Cuts 90 Positions In Winston-Salem; Opening Offices in Charlotte and London

Ninety employees at Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation were fired Wednesday in Winston-Salem.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Ninety employees at Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation were fired on Wednesday in Winston-Salem.

According to the company, the jobs have been eliminated as the company prepares to open new offices in Charlotte and London.

“We deeply appreciate their contributions to the Company and will assist them as much as possible during this difficult time by providing severance, 2017 bonus, and health and outplacement benefits,” Sarah Roof Garling, Manager of Corporate Communications, said in a statement.

The company’s corporate headquarters will remain in Winston-Salem.

According to the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce, roughly 550 people were employed by Krispy Kreme in Forsyth County in 2016. About 150 worked at the corporate headquarters.
