Crews respond to large fire at Snohomish County recycling center

SNOHOMISH, Wash. — Crews responded to a recycling plant fire near Maltby on Sunday afternoon.

A 911 call came in around 1 p.m. for a fire at United Metals. Because there are no hydrants in the area, water tenders were used to shuttle water.

According to Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue, metal debris such as washers and refrigerators were on fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

There are no injuries or evacuations.
